Cusco Airport

Cusco Airport, Peru – or to give it its official name – Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, is the only airport in Cusco. The Cusco airport has been constantly named the second most important air terminal in Peru; after the Lima airport (Jorge Chavez International Airport), annually having around 2,500,00 national and international passengers. The airport is located 5.5 km (3.4 miles) from Plaza de Armas in the historic center of Cusco. The taxi ride is approximately 20 minutes.

The air terminal receives flights from the main cities of Peru and also international flights, since Cuzco has one of the great wonders of the world, which is the Machu Picchu Sanctuary.



Although the buses can not enter the Cusco airport, they usually park from the airport to take it to the center of the city. There are also mini-buses that can hold up to 40 people, whose cost is 80 cents per person, which will take you to the Main Square.


Boarding a taxi is the safest means of transportation to get from the airport to the city. Cusco airport has an official taxi company; they are inside the airport.

Services at the airport

Because it is one of the cosmopolitan airports, Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport has a small cafeteria, public telephones, restaurant and a small bar. In addition to pantries where to buy souvenirs, drinks, newspapers, among others; In the same way, money can be withdrawn at the ATMs located at the airport entrances.

Parking lot: The airport parking is located in front of the terminal. It has an approximate capacity of 300 vehicles, is outdoors and has a fence that surrounds the entire parking space.

Hotels: No hotel is located inside the airport; however, there are many hotels around the site, such as the Loreto Boutique Hotel (3 stars) that does shuttle service to the airport.
